SPOTIFY APP

One-time setup — about 2 minutes

Vynl connects to Spotify through your own personal developer app. This keeps things private, gives you full control, and is completely free to set up.

Go to developer.spotify.com/dashboard and log in. Click Create app. Fill in any name and description, scroll to Redirect URIs — paste the URL below and click Add. Under "Which API/SDKs are you planning to use?" tick both Web API and Web Playback SDK. Accept the terms and click Save.

On your app's overview page, find the Client ID near the top — a 32-character code like a1b2c3d4… — and copy it.

SPOTIFY APP

No worries — about 3 minutes

We'll take it one small step at a time. Everything here is official, free, and safe.

Open a new browser tab and go to developer.spotify.com/dashboard. This is Spotify's official website — completely free and safe. Click Log in and use your normal Spotify email and password.

You'll see a page with a blue Create app button. Click it. A form appears — fill it in like this:

• App name: type anything, e.g. My Vynl
• App description: type anything, e.g. Personal music player
• Redirect URI: copy the address below, paste it in, then click Add
• Which API/SDKs: tick Web API and Web Playback SDK

Scroll to the bottom of the form. Tick the checkbox to agree to Spotify's terms, then click Save.

You'll land on your app's page. Near the top you'll see a label that says Client ID followed by a long code like a1b2c3d4…. Click the copy icon next to it. Then come back here and hit Next.

CONNECT

Almost there

Paste your Client ID below. Vynl will use it to authenticate with Spotify so you can browse your playlists, control playback, and explore music.

Spotify Premium is required for playback. Free accounts can browse but cannot play music through Vynl.

Your Client ID is stored only in your browser's local storage and is never sent to any server other than Spotify's.
